Tarragon leaves are most commonly used. And, what are the tarragon benefits? Find out here!

What Is Tarragon?

Tarragon a.k.a. Artemisia dracunculus is an aromatic herb grown in North America as well as Eurasia. It is most commonly used in French cuisine. Tarragon leaves are narrow, drooping and thin towards the ends. It contains vitamins A and C, calcium, iron, and omega-3 and 6 fatty acids. Also called the king of herbs, tarragon belongs to the Asteraceae family and it tastes like licorice. It comes in two varieties (French and Russian Tarragon) – both of which are beneficial for human health.

Tarragon Benefits

1. Tarragon Fights Cancer.

Since tarragon leaves are rich in antioxidants, they help fight free radicals that are responsible for the development of cancer cells. Antioxidants also help remove the damaged cells as well as cure other associated illnesses.

2. Tarragon Maintains Heart Health.

What is tarragon? It’s one of the best potassium-rich medicinal plants. Potassium is essential for kidney, liver as well as the heart health. Therefore, tarragon leaves regulate your heart and liver functioning.

3. Tarragon Repairs Intestinal Walls.

A lot of people today suffer from damaged intestinal walls. However, tarragon leaves being rich in zinc helps repair and strengthen the walls effectively.

4. Tarragon Relieves Pain.

The herb contains an essential oil called eugenol which is effective in relieving pain as well as inflammation. Chewing tarragon leaves helps ease toothache. And, having tarragon leaves tea alleviates menstrual cramps.

5. Tarragon Benefits Neurological Functioning.

Since tarragon is rich in vitamin B6, it aids brain functioning. Vitamin B6 protects neurons from critical damage. Therefore, regular consumption helps prevent dementia and improves memory power.

6. Tarragon Reduces Stress.

The tarragon herb works as a sedative. It effectively calms your mind and thus promotes better sleep. Prepare a tarragon tea and sip it every night to relax.
