Oily skin is a curse for women as well as men. Greasiness and acne appear on the face due to excess oil. How to stop oily skin? There are some home remedies for oily skin every gender can use. But what causes oily skin? Below are the causes of oily skin and tips for oily skin.

  • Greasiness

  • Large visible skin pores
  • Blackheads or whiteheads

Home Remedies For Oily Skin

1. Lemon Shrinks Facial Pores.

Lemon’s citric acid helps in limiting sebum production, which also helps in closing open pores. It uses its antimicrobial properties to treat acne and pimples. Mix two teaspoons of lime juice and water. Dip a cotton ball and apply on the face. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then wash. Moisturise your skin right after.

2. Honey Is Antimicrobial.

How to stop oily skin? Home remedies for oily skin include applying honey. The antimicrobial properties of honey prevent drying and infection. It moisturizes the skin naturally. Take two teaspoons of raw honey and massage your face gently with it. Leave it for 20 minutes and then rinse off with lukewarm water.

3. Aloe Vera Moisturizes The Skin.

If you are wondering how to control oily skin, then get yourself some aloe vera. Aloe vera gel soothes the skin. It reduces the open pores of the face, which is what causes oily skin. Take a tablespoon of aloe vera gel and spread it on your face evenly. Wash your face after keeping it on for 20-30 minutes.

4. Essential Oils Work Magic.

Essential oils like jojoba oil lessen the production of oil on the skin. Wash your hands properly and dip your fingertips in two teaspoons of jojoba oil. Massage your face gently and then rinse it off after half an hour.

5. Oatmeal Prevents Sebum Production.

How to stop oily skin without investing in expensive face masks? Take a teaspoon of oatmeal and grind it to make a powder. Put some water in it to make a thick paste. Apply it over your face and leave for half an hour. Wash with normal water.

Tips For Oily Skin Prevention

Follow these tips for oily skin to have a healthy-looking face.

  • Do not wash your face more than twice in a day. It can make the skin dry, forcing the production of more oil.
  • Moisturize your skin with face cream after washing your face to prevent dryness.
  • Stop wiping your face with a coarse towel or your hands. It damages the skin. Use a blotting paper instead.
  • Exfoliate your skin once every week to open clogged pores.
