PMDD symptoms point towards a disease that leads to severe physical as well as emotional instability. But, what is PMDD? Known as the Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, PMDD is often confused with PMS, however, the two are very different. These definitely have a few common symptoms like mood swings, irritability, confusion, cramps, and pain, but PMDD isn’t the same.

What Is PMDD?

There are high chances that you must have faced some sort of premenstrual symptoms since you started with your periods. But, talking of PMDD, this one’s distinctive. Severe hormonal imbalances lead to the PMDD symptoms that start showing up before the time of ovulation. These signs remain for more than 12 to 14 days and under critical cases, these may also lead to dangerous levels of depression.

What Are The PMDD Causes?

Exact PMDD causes are unknown. But, here are some of the factors that may contribute to the occurrence of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder:

  • Hormonal imbalance
  • History of anxiety
  • Pre-existing mood disorder
  • Stress
  • Poor lifestyle

What Are PMDD Symptoms?

  • Mood swings
  • Depression, anxiety, and irritability
  • Fatigue
  • Tender breast
  • Headaches
  • Joint or muscle pain
  • Hot flashes
  • Appetite change
  • Sleeping issues
  • Cramps
  • Bloating

Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) Treatment

1. Try An Aryuvedic Seed Powder.

Different types of Ayurvedic churnas have been beneficial in treating PMDD symptoms. So, try one of the mixes to heal yourself without any side effects. Grind dill seeds, fenugreek, carrot, and radish seeds in equal amounts. Take one teaspoon of the powder twice daily with lukewarm water for better results.

2. Treat PMDD Symptoms Jaggery.

Heat one teaspoon of clarified butter. Fry half a teaspoon of celery seeds, ginger root powder, and one small cube of jaggery.  Turn the heat off when the jaggery melts. Consume this with a cup of warm milk daily and at least a week before your cycle starts.

3. PMDD Causes Stress. Try Warm Baths.

PMDD causes a lot of stress and pressure on women. Mood swings start getting severe obstructing even daily activities. So, to have a healing effect, add 4-5 drops of lavender essential oil in a tub of warm water. Soak your lower body and abdomen for 15-20 minutes daily before sleeping.

4. Use Chasteberry As An Effective PMDD Treatment.

High levels of prolactin are one of the major PMDD causes. Chasteberry cures the same. It increases fertility and eases menstrual pain. Therefore, boil one teaspoon of crushed chasteberry along with anise star, rose petals and cinnamon in 4 cups of water. Steep the tea for 10 minutes and strain. Add one teaspoon of honey and drink once daily for a comforting impact.

5. Ginkgo Biloba Alleviates PMDD Symptoms.

The Ayurvedic herb ginkgo increases blood flow and reduces PMDD symptoms like headache and cramps. So, take 120mg of Ginkgo Biloba powder in divided doses throughout the day for better results.
