Wondering how to fight fatigue? Feeling tired is normal when you exert yourself or go through periods of stress. But if you find that you feel tired all the time – for no real reason or underlying health condition, it’s time to take a closer look at your body and mind. Fatigue treatment in Ayurveda involves simple but powerful diet and lifestyle tips. Here’s how to fight fatigue in Ayurveda.

Tired All The Time? Here’s How To Fight Fatigue:

1. Practise Yoga.

When you are tired all the time, it seems counterproductive to do physical activities – you pretty much want to cuddle up under a blanket and watch movies. But trust us, 20 minutes on your yoga mat a day can refresh and re-energise you, thus getting rid of all fatigue symptoms. Learn and practise these yoga poses such as:

  • Corpse Pose (Savasana)
  • Downward Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana)
  • Child’s Pose (Balasana)
  • Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana)
  • Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskara)
  • Camel Pose (Ustrasana)
  • Shoulder Stand (Sarvangasana)

2. Take These Herbs.

Herbs are the most precious medicinal substances. They help fight off muscle fatigue as well as mental exhaustion. They cleanse the body, refresh your mind, and boost energy levels. After a consultation with an Ayurvedic doctor, you could use these herbs to bring back your vitality:

  • Ashwagandha
  • Triphala
  • Astragalus
  • Licorice
  • Gingko biloba
  • Maca root
  • Turmeric
  • Ginger

3. Try Aromatherapy.

You’d be surprised by just how immensely powerful aromatherapy is! Plenty of studies as well as personal experiences show that it can be an excellent fatigue treatment. Simply inhaling the right essential oil for ten minutes can make you feel rejuvenated and energised. Here’s a list of stimulating essential oils you can add to your oil diffuser during the day for higher energy levels:

  • Citrus
  • Eucalyptus
  • Jasmine
  • Lemongrass
  • Grapefruit
  • Rosemary
  • Peppermint

4. Fix Your Sleep Cycle.

How to fight fatigue? Ensure that you get proper sleep – minimum seven hours is recommended. But don’t go over nine; this is especially true for Kapha types. During sleep, your body carries out repair work, balances hormones, processes information, and also goes into deep rest. Without being able to do these activities, your body can grow very tired over time. So, don’t neglect the importance of sleep. Work and parties can wait!

5. Eat These Foods And Avoid These.

Diet is an important part of fatigue treatment in Ayurveda. Eating too much of some foods can make you feel tired all the time. Not eating the right foods can have the same effects.

In general, eat more of satvik food, which is light, mildly spiced, freshly cooked, and warm. Satvik food consists of ghee, organic fruits and veggies, oils like olive oil and coconut oil, and nuts.

On the other hand, avoid food that is heavily spiced, processed, artificially flavoured, canned, stale, and containing meat. This food drains one’s prana (life-force energy that gives vitality).

6. Manage Stress.

If you’re wondering, “why am I so tired”, chances are that you’re simply too stressed. Mental fatigue can have a drastic effect on your body, draining large amounts of energy. If this is the case, take steps to bust your stress. Yoga, meditation, creative activities, sports, spending time with family and friends…do whatever works for you! If need be, see a therapist. In time, as your stress levels go down, you’ll find that you are able to approach life with the same energy, positivity, and enthusiasm you had before. Maybe even more!
