About the size of a walnut, the prostate gland is an important part of the male reproductive system. It generates fluid that makes up semen and also aids the process of ejaculation. So it goes without saying that you should ensure it always stays healthy to enjoy a good sex life. Moreover, prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men. It’s therefore wise to be careful about the state of this gland. These prostate health tips will help you take good care of your reproductive system.

Prostate Health Tips For Good Male Reproductive Health

1. Exercise Everyday.

Ayurveda always encourages being active. Sufficient exercise is essential for a healthy prostate gland – plenty of research proves this. One reason is because the more you exercise, the lesser are your chances of developing sexual disorders like erectile dysfunction and prostate problems. It helps get rid of toxins, ensures good blood circulation in the reproductive system, and also reduces inflammation. Moreover, being overweight has also been linked to a higher risk prostate cancer. And of course, exercise helps you stay in shape.

2. Eat These Foods.

Ayurvedic experts would recommend following these prostate diet tips, so that you are likely to enjoy better male reproductive health:

  • Eat plenty of bright coloured fruits and veggies.
  • Favour antioxidant rich foods like berries and pomegranate.
  • Eat whole grains.
  • Get enough of healthy fats from olive oil, coconut oil, nuts, flaxseeds, and avocados.
  • Eat selenium-rich foods like sesame seeds, cashew nuts, onions, garlic, and mushroom.
  • Add lycopene containing foods to your diet, like tomatoes, guava, and watermelon.
  • Indulge in the goodness of leafy greens regularly.
  • Add anti-inflammatory herbs and spices like turmeric, holy basil, ginger, and oregano to your food.
  • Don’t overeat.

3. And Avoid These.

There are also foods that can harm your prostate. If you are prone to developing problems with your prostate, limit your intake of these foods:

  • Processed sugar
  • Alcohol
  • Red meat
  • Processed meats
  • Excess salt and sodium rich foods
  • Canned and frozen goods
  • Junk food like hot dogs and burgers
  • Deep fried food
  • Saturated fats

According to Ayurveda, these foods should in fact be avoided by everyone since they cause a number of health problems.

4. See Your Doctor Regularly.

One of the most important prostate health tips is to keep visiting your doctor. This way, you can know if there’s something you should be cautious about – and the earlier you know, the better. Moreover, it’s especially important to get checked regularly if you have a history of prostate problems in your family, and if you are above the age of 40. Some ways your doc can check include rectal exams, antigen tests to check for cancer, and biopsies.

5. Lead A Healthy Lifestyle.

Ayurveda believes that by leading a healthy lifestyle, you can reduce your chances of developing diseases to a large extent. This also applies to prostate cancer. Avoid bad habits like smoking, drinking, and exerting your body. Take time to release stress from your body and mind with activities like yoga and meditation. Spend plenty of time in nature. Here are some more Ayurvedic lifestyle tips worth following.
