Breast Milk: Foods To Increase Breast Milk, #3 Is A Must Try!

To be an all-time meal-on-the-heel isn’t an easy task. But, that’s an unsentimental metaphor for what love is and how it works! Breastfeeding is a lifetime experience for the new mothers and a perennial gift for the babies. The essential nutrients that breast milk contains facilitate a better growth in infants. Breastfeeding is the first step towards motherhood. And breast milk is a nourishing food that imparts warmth as well as a feeling of security to the baby. But, not being able to pump enough is one major concern for many mothers. Breastfeeding problems are increasingly common. How to increase milk supply? Here are some foods to increase breast milk production!

What Is Breast Milk?

It is the food for an infant. Breast milk contains appropriate amounts of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, digestive enzymes, and hormones. It also contains antibodies as well as lymphocytes that protect the baby from infections. Breastfeeding is important for at least 6 months and a low milk supply can put the baby in danger.

What Are The Signs Of Low Milk Supply?

The following signs appear when the baby doesn’t get enough milk:

  • He/ she isn’t gaining weight
  • The baby isn’t pooping enough
  • He/ she doesn’t wet as often

What Are The Low Milk Supply Causes?

  • Insufficient glandular tissue
  • Hormonal or endocrine problem
  • Hormonal birth control
  • Breast surgery
  • Anatomical issues
  • Medications
  • Using pacifier

How To Increase Milk Supply?

Here are certain herbs and other foods to increase breast milk –

1. Fenugreek Seeds For Breast Milk.

Soak one tablespoon of fenugreek seeds in a cup of water overnight. Boil this water the next morning for a few minutes. Strain and drink every day until you observe any results.

2. Cumin Seeds Increase Milk Supply.

With a glass of warm milk, have a teaspoon of cumin powder and sugar. Take this daily before going to bed and after a few weeks, the condition would improve.

3. Fennel Seeds Make Breastfeeding Easy.

Add one tablespoon of fennel seeds to a cup of boiling water. Cover and let it steep for about 30 minutes. Strain the solution and drink the tea for a month twice daily.

4. Milk Thistle Is An Ancient Remedy For Breastfeeding Problems.

Since ages, milk thistle is known to increase the breast milk production. So, mix a teaspoon of crushed milk thistle seeds in about 250 ml of boiling water. Let it steep for 10 – 15 minutes and then drink warm daily.

5. Holy Basil Is Amongst The Best Foods To Increase Breast Milk. 

Mix 5 – 6 basil leaves with ¼th teaspoon of sea salt and a pinch of black pepper powder in a small bowl of plain yogurt. Consume this thrice every day and you’ll observe a difference.
