Coping With Depression After A Miscarriage

For most women, depression after a miscarriage is sure to subside in a year or two or after they re-conceive. However, the treatment usually focuses on effectively relieving the symptoms.

1. Listen To Her.

Let her speak about her fears, about the loss, her expectations and how things turned the other way around. She must be all torn up and angry at herself. For miscarriage recovery, console her the right way. It’s also important for coping with a miscarriage.

2. Acceptance Is The Key.

Losing the unborn child – one cannot even dream of it! But, acceptance is the key. Once she’s at this point, looking at the situation eye to eye won’t be too far. She’ll be able to reassure that this is it and now another path needs to be paved – not because she doesn’t feel for the loss but because there still is goodness on the other side.

3. Don’t Force Her To ‘Not Feel.’

Give her the time she needs – to grieve, to remember, to blame, or to question. Forcing her into positivity can further trigger her depression. The important thing here is to let her understand her emotions, understand that it’s no one’s fault and even if things are right, this can go wrong. Be respectful to her needs and gradually help her refocus. This will revive her satvik energies and balance the weakened Ojas.

4. Make Her Feel Whole Again.

Grieving persistently in order to stay faithful is not going to serve any purpose. Convince her to regain strengthen and plan for the family, one more time. Miscarriage recovery isn’t going to be easy. However, she deserves to feel secure again and start finding happiness. This will lower the Rajasik as well as Tamasik influences.

5. Visit A Counselor.

She doesn’t have to face this all alone. If none of your efforts are making any difference, take her to a counselor for better advice. Having a support group is important for coping with a miscarriage and to get out of the episode.

6. Follow These Tips

To help her regain her emotional balance, follow these Ayurvedic tips:

  • Going to bed around 10 p.m. – the Kapha time – will help her sleep deep and wake up feeling fresh.
  • Daily exercise is important.
