Best Indian Spices: Must-Haves On Your Healthy Shopping List

India is a country famous for its rich culture, absolute diversity, and tonnes of healing spices. The Indian spices are highly recommended by Ayurveda due to their medicinal qualities. Every authentic Indian spice market is said to be a massive apothecary. There’s a smell of Ayurvedic food wisdom in every nook and corner. Ayurveda encourages the use of these spices once a while in your dishes or even otherwise. The herbs and spices do not only accentuate the palate but also the Tridoshas in the body. If you’re wondering which spices to include in your healthy shopping list, these Indian spices are the ones you must look out for:

1. Add Turmeric In Your Spices List.

Turmeric is known to exhibit multiple qualities. From acting as an antibacterial to managing blood flow in the vessels, turmeric is the top ingredient on any healthy shopping list. Put half a teaspoon of turmeric powder in ghee and then cook food in it or drink turmeric milk every night for good health.

2. Fennel Treats Menstrual Cramps.

Herbs and spices like fennel have been used by women to regulate their menstrual cycles. Prepare a tea by boiling a teaspoon of cumin seeds in a cup of water. Strain the tea and drink for pain relief.

3. Cumin Improves Digestion.

Cumin is one of many digestive Indian spices. It clears ama (toxins) from the body. So, fry half a teaspoon of cumin seeds in a tablespoon of ghee. Add cooked vegetables and serve.

4. Cardamom Balances Pitta.

Cardamom has been used to enhance the taste and aroma of food in India, but it also has various health benefits. It pacifies aggravated Pitta in the body. Chew the seeds once a day for freshness. More cardamom benefits here …

5. Asafoetida Prevents Gas.

Do not forget to include asafoetida in the spices list. It’s a perfect flavoring agent which has a pungent as well as a strong in smell and taste. Also, the spice helps prevent gas buildup and bloating. Add a pinch of it while cooking gas inducing dishes like lentils or beans. Here are some more asafoetida benefits. 

6. Black Mustard Seeds Enhance Bowel Movement.

Black mustard seeds cure constipation and hard stools. Fry these seeds like other herbs and spices in ghee and consume every day. Do not use mustard seeds in excess as they produce heat in the body.

7. Carom Seeds Are Healthy.

Carom seeds help increase metabolism and also eliminate bacterial infections dwelling in the body. Soak two teaspoons of carom seeds in a cup of water overnight. Strain the water and drink it every morning.
