Low blood pressure or hypotension is as severe as having high blood pressure. It’s a medical condition that disturbs your normal blood pressure readings. Low BP can at times be life threatening as the levels drop without any intimation. You might feel confused, breathe irregularly and experience a pinching pain in the lower back, which is why it’s important to get rid of the low blood pressure symptoms.

What’s The Normal Blood Pressure Range?

The normal blood pressure readings are said to be 80/120. However, levels below 90/60 are considered to be dangerous and may require immediate attention.

What Causes Low Blood Pressure?

  • Poor diet
  • Incorrect lifestyle habits
  • Disturbed sleeping patterns
  • Little to no physical activities
  • Vitamin deficiencies
  • Emotional instability
  • Kidney or heart disease
  • Injury or blood loss
  • Dehydration
  • Pregnancy
  • Age
  • Medications

Other than these, if you have a vata constitution, poor circulation may cause low BP. In pitta individuals, anemia or poor liver health is the reason. Whereas, kapha individuals may face the problem due to congestion.

What Are The Low Blood Pressure Symptoms?

  • Weakness
  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue
  • Chest pain
  • Blurry vision
  • Back pain
  • Palpitation
  • Losing consciousness
  • Organ failure
  • Shock

Low Blood Pressure Treatment

1. Salt Water Is The Best Remedy.

The safest as well as the quickest way to regain consciousness is to immediately drink salt water. Sodium helps normalize low BP and curb the symptoms.

2. Try Coffee.

Ayurveda, does not recommend having caffeine…but as far as low BP is concerned, coffee does the job! So, two to three small cups of coffee in a day will increase your blood pressure levels, thus reducing the low blood pressure symptoms.

3. Basil is Beneficial.

Having around 10-15 basil leaves with honey on an empty stomach will relieve the symptoms. If you know you are suffering from such a condition, basil everyday will prevent further imbalances.

4. Beets Alleviate Low Blood Pressure Symptoms.

If you are suffering from the problem of low blood pressure, drink a cup of raw and fresh beetroot juice twice daily. It will help regulate the blood pressure readings.

5. Use Licorice.

Being a natural adaptogen, licorice or the sweet root helps support your digestion. Simply brew it in the form of a soothing tea or just chew it raw every day.

6. Cayenne Pepper Is Good For Kapha Individuals.

This is an effective low blood pressure treatment. As cayenne pepper unclogs the flow of blood, you can simply have a tsp of it mixed with honey in warm water every morning.

7. Opt For These Lifestyle Changes.

  • Stress less, rest more.
  • Keep yourself hydrated.
  • Get your B-vitamin doses!
  • Practice deep breathing.
  • Exercise or perform yoga.
  • Drink herbal teas: Rosemary, ginseng or Indian spikenard. Boil these together or have independent teas.
  • Reduce your alcohol intake.
  • Take care of your posture.
  • Avoid processed foods.
  • Keep wearing pressure socks.
