Sudden feeling of intense warmth and then chills right after can be rather discomforting. As we know, the condition is a common symptom of menopause leading to abrupt sweating or shivering. Hot flashes usually leave you with facial redness and a rapid heartbeat. It not only can disrupt your daily routine, but hot flashes at night also disrupt one’s sleep cycle.

If you are suffering from this, here’s how to get rid of it with natural home remedies. 

What Causes Hot Flashes?

The condition itself a symptom of menopause as well as perimenopause. It arises when the blood vessels widen to cool the body, resulting in sweat. So, hot flashes are basically a response to overheating. Hormones play a major role in this. A drop in estrogen levels can induce a sudden temperature change in the body. Stress and anxiety are also major triggers.

What Are The Hot Flashes Symptoms?

  • The sudden feeling of heat
  • Redness on the face, neck, ears, and chest
  • Sweating in the upper body
  • Tingling sensations in fingers
  • Increased heartbeat
  • Sleeplessness
  • Mood swings

How To Get Rid Of Hot Flashes?

1. Drink Black Cohosh Tea.

Women experiencing the condition can consume black cohosh. Several studies show the effectiveness of this herb on the hot flashes symptoms. So, boil a teaspoon of the herb in one cup of water. Steep for 5 minutes and drink once every day.

2. Take Evening Primrose Oil Baths.

Evening primrose oil is an aromatic with medicinal properties that can offer immense relief. So, add a few drops of the oil to your bathing water. Soak for 15 minutes once every day to get rid of the condition.

3. Eat Flaxseeds For Fighting Hot Flashes At Night.

A study showed that women consuming flaxseeds found reduced incidents of hot flashes. Therefore, it is recommended to grind a handful of flaxseeds and have 40gms once daily.

4. Kava Kava Decreases Anxiety.

Since kava kava acts as an antidepressant, it may help reduce the hot flashes causes. Pour some water in a pan and add a teaspoon of kava in it. Bring it to a boil and reduce to one cup. Drink no more than 250ml.

5. Ginseng Prevents Hot Flashes Symptoms.

Panax ginseng is beneficial to cure such issues. So, prepare a decoction by pouring hot water over a teaspoon of ginseng root powder. Drink it warm to get rid of hot flashes at night.

6. Licorice Roots Help You Sleep.

What are hot flashes symptoms? Sleeplessness is a major sign. Licorice acts as a natural sedative to relax your mind. Take a teaspoon of licorice powder with a glass of water before sleeping every day.

7. Valerian Root Is Anti-Inflammatory.

Valerian is both anti-inflammatory and sedative in nature. It reduces the discomforts caused by the hot flashes symptoms. So, in a cup of water, boil a teaspoon of valerian root powder. Steep the tea for 8-10 minutes and drink. Do this daily.
