Omega 6 foods, when consumed in the right amounts, prove beneficial for your health. These polyunsaturated fats have both good as well as bad implications. It requires the same enzyme to metabolize omega 6 as well as omega 3 fatty acids. Therefore, moderate intake is necessary. This does not affect the omega 6 to 3 ratio which can otherwise lead to inflammatory ailments.

However, be sure that you aren’t having high amounts of omega 6 foods since these can lead to the development of several chronic diseases as well as inflammation. The body is not capable of making fatty acids on its own hence we need to feed the essentials and balance Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

Benefits Of Omega 6 Fatty Acids

Here are some of the common omega 6 benefits:

  • Omega 6 foods help treat rheumatoid arthritis.
  • They help reduce nerve pain.
  • They also relieve the symptoms of asthma.
  • Omega 6 fatty acids overcome the signs of ADHD.
  • They lower blood pressure.
  • They prevent the risk of heart diseases and maintain cardiovascular health.
  • The fatty acids also support overall bone health.

Omega 6 Foods

1. Nuts Energize You.

Nuts including walnuts, Brazil nuts, almonds, pine nuts, and peanuts are highly rich in omega 6 fatty acids. Therefore, these are a great addition to your daily diet.

2. Seeds Keep You Rejuvenated.

Sprinkle some over salads or churn them in your smoothies. But, also ensure you’re maintaining the omega 6 and omega 3 ratio. The best options are flax, hemp, sunflower, watermelon, pumpkin, lotus as well as chia seeds.

3. Oils Are Enriched With Omega 6 Fatty Acids.

Similar to the seeds, oils benefit your system in an equal manner. Therefore, the highest omega 6 rich foods, particularly oils, include safflower, walnut, coconut, sunflower, corn, sesame, olive, poppy and grapeseed oil. These are anti-fungal as well as antiviral in nature.

4. Soybean Is Beneficial.

Not only are these high in vegetarian proteins, but soybeans are also a rich source of omega 6 fatty acids. The linoleic acid content facilitates better omega 6 production in the body.

5. Tofu Has Omega 6 Benefits.

Tofu is among the best omega 6 rich foods along with having a reasonable amount of omega 3 fats. One cup of raw tofu has significant omega 6 benefits to help you maintain the overall balance.

6. Avocado Is Among The Best Omega 6 Foods.

Omega 6 benefits the body immensely. This fleshy as well as creamy fruit, avocado, contains almost 3000+ mg of omega 6 content in about 250g serving. It’s a green and vegan option!
